  • Representatives of SAJ visits WSPU President
    Seoul, July 9th 2012-Representatives of the Scout Association of Japan (SAJ) took the opportunity to meet with Hon. Chung Ui Hwa, President of World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) at the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea in Seoul. They reported to Hon. Chung Ui Hwa about some of the discussions related to the next WSPU General Assembly, which took place during the general assembly of the Japan Scout Parliamentary Association (JSPA) on Wednesday, July 4th 2012. Additionally, they shared some tentative plan about the preparation for the next WSPU GA such as the planned date, venue, agenda etc. According to their information, the next WSPU GA will be held in or around Tokyo in early November 2013 and the GA organizers added that the event will be formal but simple, in order to take into consideration the Japanese economy which was affected by the earthquake last year. Hon. Chung Ui Hwa was happy to receive this update regarding the upcoming GA and emphasized that one of the important values of the Scout Movement is volunteering and he therefore encouraged Japanese Scouts and Leaders to join in the preparations of the WSPU GA so that all will go as smoothly as possible. Hon. Chung also added that, he and the WSPU Secretariat, are eager to help and support them for the success of the next GA, During their stay, the representatives of the Scout Association of Japan (SAJ) will visit the Korea Scout Association and Korea Scout Foundation in order to conduct meetings regarding existing co- operation and partnerships.
  • Executive Committee members meet at World Scout Bureau in Switzaland
    23 August 2012- World Scout Bureau, Switzerland The second Executive Committee Meeting took place at the World Scout Bureau in Switzerland. It was the second meeting following the 6th General Assembly of the World Scout Parliamentary Union, which took place in Seoul, Rep. of Korea in November 2010. During the meeting, the President Hon. Chung reported annual activities including granting observer status from IPU(Inter- Parliamentary Union) and presented newly released publications such as newsletters (winter edition, spring edition), report of the 2nd WSPU Youth Exchange Program and new presentation booklet of WSPU in both English and French. Other subjects on the agenda included keeping youth safe from harm, youth policy comparative study, redeveloping the network of National Scout Parliamentary Associations and discussion status of next General Assembly. Representatives of the Scout Association of Japan participated in the meeting and reported to the WSPU Executive Committee members about preparation for the next WSPU GA such as planned date, venue and etc. The Executive Committee members discussed about agenda for the next WSPU GA and agreed that 'keeping youth safe from harm' could be one. They also added that they are eager to help and support SAJ for the success of the next GA.
  • Official visit to Kandersteg International Scout Center
    August 23, 2012- Hon. Chung Ui Hwa, President of WSPU officially visited Kandersteg International Scout Center with other delegates of Korea Scout Parliamentary Association after the WSPU Executive Committee meeting. Thanks to KISC's kind cooperation, Hon. Chung and KSPA delegates had the opportunity to be informed the general overview of the KISC, to visit to Korean room including the camp site and to hear the insight thoughts of the volunteers who work for KISC as short term or long term staff. Hon. Chung presented the new presentation booklet of WSPU and a replica of the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner (AD 7th c.), a national treasure of Korea as a gift.
